Feed The Rhino

 Feed The Rhino are a hardcore five piece from Kent with punk rock influences. Since their formation, feed the rhino have released three studio albums as well as taken part in a compilation album. Feed The Rhino's style fuses intense harsh vocals with complimentary clean vocals, together this creates a very atmospheric tone. Feed The Rhino are currently signed with Century Media Records.

 Feed The Rhino's unmistakable vocals are delivered by Lee Tobin, guitars are manned by Sam and James Colley alongside Oz Craggs on the bass. Keeping it coherent is Chris Kybert on the drums.

 Since their formation, Feed The Rhino have gone from strength to strength due to the combined effects of amazing live reviews (Watch for a live review coming here soon) and album reviews of an equal caliber. Feed The Rhino have seen a lot of exposure due to consistent support slots for well known bands and due to their signing with large record label Century Media.

 Feed The Rhino have announced a tour this year that will last throughout October with support bands being Baby Godzilla (Band Review here) and Night Verses. The tour is to promote the band's latest album; The Sorrow and the Sound.

Band Review (Devastator)

Devastator

 Devastator (formerly under the name Adversary) are a rap djent metal band from Sydney, Australia. Devastator are a relatively new band as they formed in 2013. Devastator play loud and intense djent infused metal with hard driven rap vocals and aim to bring this sound to the main stage. Currently Devastator have released three individual singles but no EP as yet. Devastator are unsigned but are promoted by BeheadingTheTraitor.

 Devastator's hard driven vocals are delievered by Matthew "AntiMatter" Youkhana with backing vocals by bass player Adrian Tate. Devastator's guitar work is supplied by Alessandro Sabato and Andrew Stevens and Devastator's smashing drums are from Matthew Nekic.

 Since the formation of the band, they have received little publicity possibly due to the lack of an EP. The band have released three singles to good reception.

Band Review (King 810)

King 810

 King 810 (simply just KING) are a nu metal four man band from Flint, Michigan. King 810 have been around since the late 00s and have rocketed into the rocket scene with their signing to Roadrunner records. King 810 currently have an EP and an album to their name, both met with good reviews. King 810's sound is dark and foreboding but still retains meaning and conviction.

 King 810's dark vocals are from David Gunn supported  by the heavy guitar work from Andrew Beal with Eugene Gill on bass. Andrew Workman keeps it in check on the drums

  Since their formation, King 810 have risen to recognition exponentially through the media's portrayal of them. King 810 bring the connotation of violence with stories of baseball bats, lighter fluid and assault. Any press is good press and since King 810 secured a spot on 2014's Download festival lineup while not even having released their debut album.

 King 810 seem to be everywhere at the moment and are touring extensively, first King 810 will complete their portion of the Download freezes over tour (watch this space for a live review) and then they play a few date in mainland Europe and then Knotfest and then  they support Slipknot alongside Korn for the Prepare For Hell tour in the US. Band Review (Twelve Foot Ninja)

 Twelve Foot Ninja are an alternative five piece from Melbourne, Australia. Twelve Foot Ninja formed in '08 and have since gathered a dedicated fan base. The band has released one studio album and two EPs and are currently signed with Volkanik Records. Twelve Foot Ninja perform a mix of heavy riff driven rock to reggae funk influenced rock tracks. 

 Kin provides vocals for Twelve Foot Ninja with guitarists Steve and Rohan with bassist Damon and most imortantly Shane on the drums.

 Since their formation in '08, Twelve Foot Ninja have risen to fame in Australia and are breaking through in Europe and the US. For their debut album, a track and matching comic was released on the twelve week run up to the release, this was known as "PROJECT 12", this added a lot of intrigue into the bands personality and style which undoubtedly drew in curiosity from listeners. Twelve Foot Ninja are known for their extensive fan interaction and appreciation.

 Twelve Foot Ninja are not touring at present as they have just finished a spring time tour in the US. On the other hand, Twelve Foot Ninja are in the process of writing a new album for a release next year (just speculation) so that could entail a tour.

Band Review (Devil You Know)

 Devil You Know are a metal 5 man band from Los Angeles. Devil You Know formed in 2012 and have rocketed into the music scene since. Currently, Devil You Know have released one studio album and are signed to Nuclear Blast records. Devil You Know features heavy riffs mixed with Howard Jones' clean and scream vocals to make for an unforgettable sound.

 Howard Jones provides his unique vocals backed by Francesco Artusato and Roy Lav-ari on guitars and Ryan Wombacher on bass and holding it together is John Sankey on drums.

 Since their formation in 2012, Devil You Know have released one studio album: The Beauty of Destruction was released in April this year and was met with rave review. Alongside the rave reviews, Devil You Know were awarded the Best New Band award at this year's Golden Gods Awards. 

 Devil You Know are currently touring with Italian metal band Lacuna Coil until October where they take a break and tour with Machine Head from November until December. To check date for gig click the link here.

Band Review (Dead Harts)

 Dead Harts are a Hardcore five piece from Sheffield. Dead Harts formed in '09 and have since amassed a cult following due to tour slots with larger bands. Dead Harts jam brutal riffs at breakneck speeds together with killer vocals. 

 Matthew Baxendale provides the vocals for Dead Harts alongside guitarists Matt Pask and Dominic Bass (probably would have been more convenient to play bass but oh well) bass is played by Rob Tilbury and drums are played by Anthony Allen.

 Since their formation, Dead Harts have released a total of 2 albums. Born Into Rags to Die No Richer was released first in October '12 and then Cult For The Haggard Youth was released in the July of this year. Both albums are awesome and worth a playthrough or three.

 Dead Harts have some gig dates planned for later this year but the earliest is a support slot alongside Beartooth (I have tickets for this so watch this space for a review) and during the November/December period they have a support slot along side Hacktivist (Band Review here) and The One Hundred (Band Review here) as part of the Download Freezes Over tour (which i also have tickets for).

Band Review (The One Hundred)

 The One Hundred are a gender mashing quartet from London. The One Hundred have been around since 2012 but have been making music together before. The One Hundred fuse grime with metal with a helping of electronica to create a sound which is unmistakably unique and refreshing.

  The One Hundred's vocals and electronic samples are provided by Jacob Field alongside Tim Hider and Phil Kneller on guitars and Joe Balchin on the all important drums.

 Since their formation in 2012, The One Hundred have built a solid following through extensive touring in the UK and are currently waiting to release their debut EP titled Subculture. The EP is due for release at the beginning of September with a total of six tracks. 

 The One Hundred are not currently touring but have odd gigs leading up to September: This said, The One Hundred do have a tour planned during November and December as part of the "Download freezes over" string of tours. The One Hundred alongside hardcore band Dead Harts will be supporting Hacktivist (Band Review here) for 22 shows from November until December, check here for details. (I have tickets for the first show of the tour so watch this space for a review).

Band Review (Flaw)

 Flaw are a hard rock/nu metal five piece from Kentucky. Flaw have been making music on and off since 1995 and have recently reformed with the original line up. Flaw manage to blend the nu metal style with hard and truthful messages.

 Flaw's vocals are from Chris Volz alongside the guitars from Jason Daunt and Lance Arny backed by bass player Ryan Juhrs and last but by no means least Chris Ballinger on drums.

 Each member has been making music for close twenty years through various side projects. Since Flaw's formation in '95, they have released 5 albums and an EP. Up until 2000, Flaw were unsigned but still managed to release two albums. After this, Flaw were signed by Universal Records through which they released a further two albums. In 2004, Flaw were dropped from their label and subsequently disbanded. In 2006, Flaw met again and made plans for a new album which surfaced in 2009 in the form of the independently released Homegrown Studio Sessions; this is the latest release from the outfit.

 Flaw have a few tour dates planned for the upcoming month in Kentucky and are campaigning on indiegogo for another tour which you can check out here and show your support.

Band Review (Animals as Leaders)

 Animals as Leaders are a progressive djent infused metal band from Washington D.C. Together, Animals as Leaders has been making music since 2007. Animals as Leaders are praised for their technical and complex riffs. Their music is truly awe inspiring.

 Animals as Leaders don't feature vocals on their tracks (this adds another level to their music believe me) but guitar are played by Tosin Abasi and Javier Reyes and the drums by Matt Garstka.

 The members of Animals as Leaders are experienced with music and this fact shines through their material's technicality and complexity. Since their formation in '07; Animals as Leaders have produced three studio albums with the most recent released in the March of 2014. Each album was met with exceptional reviews.

 Animals as Leaders have toured quite a bit and can be seen quite easily. Animals as Leaders have a tour planned for the end of the year as support for progressive djent metal band TesseracT (should be going to that so watch this space for a review). For more about their tour dates check here.

Band Review (Wounds)

 Wounds are a hardcore four piece hailing from Dublin. Wounds have been together since 2010 but have achieved instant respect by critics and fellow artists with the release of their debut EP Dead Dead Fucking Dead. Wounds put their heart into their live shows making for a high energy experience that is sure to impress.

 Aidan Coogan provides the deep vocals alongside his brother James on guitar. The bass is helmed by Aaron McGrath and the all important drums are from Craig McCann.

 Wounds are quite a young band but have definitely achieved their fair share of accolades and respect. Wounds have shown that they can pull off an intense high energy show without the music suffering which is hard to master. Currently, Wounds have an EP and a full length album named Die Young (Pretty awesome, you should check it out) to their name which were both met with rave reviews.

 Wounds have played enough gigs to know how it works and have even appeared at 2013's Download festival. Currently, Wounds have gigs dates planned for September in Canada but none so far for the UK. Band Review (Hacktivist)

 Hacktivist are a genre mashing quintet from Milton Keynes formed in 2011. Hacktivist pride themselves on having a sound that does not conform to the norm. Hacktivist one-ups the rap metal breakthroughs of earlier generations and adds the djent sound into the equation for a truly heavy and powerful sound. Alongside Hacktivist's heavy sound; the vocals focus on social and political issues making the band truly insightful.

 Hacktivist's vocals are provided by both J Hurley and Ben Marvin with some melodic backing by guitarist Timfy James. Richard Hawkins destroying the drums and Josh Gurner on the Bass.

 Hacktivist are a relatively young band but despite this they are gaining popularity and recognition fast. Hacktivist only have an EP to show but an album will follow soon. Currently Hacktivist are signed to the label Wake To Reality.

 Despite the lack of material, Hacktivist have secured supporting and headline spots on tours worldwide as well as a main stage slot for Reading and Leeds festival this year. As well as this they have announced a UK tour with support from Dead Harts and The One Hundred (more info linked here).

Band Review (Alestorm)

    Alestorm (Formerly Battleheart and definitely not Halestorm) are a "True Scottish Pirate" metal 5 piece band. Formed in 2004, have built a reputation for drinking and general shenanigans on stage and off. Alestorm play music heavily themed on pirates with smart use of keyboards which leads to a refreshing sound that is truly distinct in world of generic viking/pagan metal bands.

 Christopher Bowes provides vocals as well as keyboards alongside Elliot Vernon. Dani Evans and Gareth Murdock offer the awesome guitars with Peter Alcorn on drums. 

 Alestorm have been musically active since 04 and definitely have some experience and it shows. With three studio albums under their belts along with a live album filmed in Australia, Alestorm (like pirates) have conquered most places. Alestorm are currently signed to Napalm Records.

 Alestorm (again, like pirates) have been everywhere and are constantly on the road touring with other awesome bands or writing new material. Although Alestorm have been extensively touring Australia recently, Alestorm have announced a string of dates around Europe for the run up to the release of their fourth studio album, Sunset on the Golden Age.  Alestorm's comedic values are portrayed well in their music videos but still nothing beats seeing the band live (I strongly recommend you do this year). Band Review (Baby Godzilla)

 Baby Godzilla are a "General extreme noise" thrash metal band formed in Nottingham. Baby Godzilla have been around since 2009 and have earned themselves a reputation for their chaotic live shows that never fail to get the crowd violent. Baby Godzilla mix heavy riffs with just pure frantic speed and it is an experience to see live. 

 Matt Reynolds and Johnny Hall both supply the outrageous guitar riffs supported by Paul Shelley on Bass and Tom Marsh not so much on drums but standing, jumping etc. Vocals are mainly delivered by Matt but all band members contribute at times.

 Baby Godzilla have been making music since 2009 but definitely have not matured, which is a good thing, Baby Godzilla are still as violent and destructive as they were on day one. Currently, Baby Godzilla have released two EPs, NPAG in 2010 and Knockout Machine in 2013. Alongside this, they have also released a 7 track mini-album called Oche in 2012. Baby Godzilla released their mini-album through I'm Not From London, a Nottingham based group that promote gigs.

 Baby Godzilla get around and have played headline shows, festivals like this years Reading and Leeds among others and even supported larger acts like Enter Shikari and Limp Bizkit. So far this year, Baby Godzilla have announced dates three solo dates as well as a tour with Feed the Rhino and Night Verses (Watch this space for a live review on that).

Band Review (Dendera)

 Dendera are a classic metal five piece from Portsmouth. Dendera create awesome nostalgic metal riffs with a sharp and defined modern edge that truly fuse to create an unforgettable experience. 

 Ashley Edison provides the unforgettable vocals for Dendera. The sweet sound of the guitars are supplied by Steven Main and Tony Fuller with bass from Bradley Edison. Keeping it all together is Andy Finch on drums.

 Dendera have been active for almost 5 years now: In that time they have released a six track EP called "We Must Fight" and a followup album by the name of "The Killing Floor". Currently, Dendera are signed to Metalbox Recordings. Dendera have supported a wide array of bands like; Alestrom, Gloryhammer, Saxon and Sacred Mother Tongue. Dendera also appear at this year's Takedown Festival.

 Dendera have played a few headline gigs locally in Portmouth but whether they are headlining or supporting, they are always met by an eager crowd. Dendera have a live date coming up in July. Dendera have hinted on social media that they are working on new material so watch this space.

 To conclude, I suggest you give Dendera a whirl with Senlac Hill available on Dendera's first album; The Killing Floor.

     

Band Review (Zoax)

 Zoax (said like hoax but with a Z) are a genre-splicing quintet based in London. Zoax blend melodic rock with post-hardcore riffs served with a large garnish of technicality to create an awe inspiring and truly unique sound.

 Adam Carroll provides the God-like vocals for this band and his other band Time is a Thief. Bass is provided by Joe Copcutt, Joe also provides bass for Axewound and previously Rise to Remain. Guitars are played by Dan Prasad and Doug Wotherspoon and Jon Rogers on drums.

 Zoax are a relatively young band with currently only a 5 track EP released (which I recommend you but immediately) but are far from vulnerable. Zoax are signed to "Siege of Amida Records" through which their EP XIII was released in 2014. Zoax have secured an ever growing loyal fan base thanks to endless support slots with well known bands such as Cancer Bats, Gallows and Feed the Rhino, Zoax have also appeared on the lineup for Download festival 2013 and 2014.

 Although Zoax are yet to tour while being the headliner, their live performances are on the next level. Adam's stage presence simply put is not to be missed. For those wanting to see the spectacle that is Zoax live, a tour has been announced where Zoax will play alongside Cytota. Presently the tour consists of 4 dates in September but more will certainly be added due to high demand.
